In October 2010, the broadband communication system began testing on various types of ships of the Japanese mail ship. When the system was introduced as part of the IBIS project (using innovative technology to improve fuel efficiency and reduce equipment enthalpy), NYK implemented the project in the Group's container ships to achieve optimal economic operation of the ship, enabling real-time between land and ship. Large-capacity data exchange is possible. Test results show that the large amount of classified data needed to reduce CO2 emissions can be obtained in real time. The new system can obtain more specific weather and current forecast information, help ship ship data and automatic transmission of land ship operation monitoring, and improve the speed of information sharing and communication between shore staff and crew. Based on these test results, NYK decided to upgrade from the test phase to the actual installation phase, install the system on all NYK container ships, advance the IBIS project, and import the system on car, bulk, tanker and LNG vessels.
