According to Zurich, Switzerland, August 7th: ABB, the world's leading power and automation technology group, has been selected by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding to supply 24 dry propulsion transformers to 12 diesel-electric offshore platform supply vessels.
It is reported that the 2300KVA, 480V dry propulsion transformer will be produced by ABB's Trasfor Group's factory, which is the leading manufacturer of medium and low voltage dry-type transformers and inductors.
Due to the small number of moving parts required, compact dry-type transformers offer the advantages of high efficiency, reliability, low noise and light weight, powering electric propulsion systems, helping to reduce CO2 emissions and improving operational accuracy.
