Recently, AkzoNobel developed a new anti-fouling antifouling control coating, Intersleek 1000. 
The new coating will help shipowners and ship operators to achieve sustainable shipping and reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 6%.
Robert Wong, President of AkzoNobel's Marine Coatings Business Marketing, said, "The introduction of the Intersleek 1000 offers customers a diverse range of options and offers different references and requirements for shipowners and ship operators looking for sustainable hull coating investments."
The new technology combines bio-renewable raw materials to enhance ship performance, and the Intersleek 1000 hull coating maintains a smooth surface and reduces drag. The long-term use of the Intersleek 1000 antifouling control coating is equivalent to the use of a self-polishing copolymer (SPC) coating.
