Fastener industry needs to target special products

China's fasteners experienced negative growth in 2012 after a double-digit growth, which fell by 1.5% year-on-year. Take Jiaxing, a key city in fasteners, as an example. According to the Jiaxing Fasteners Import & Export Association, in the first quarter of this year, fasteners exported to Jiaxing City were US$45 million, down by 22.94% year-on-year; exports to the EU were US$38 million. The year-on-year decrease was 11.82%. The reason is mainly due to the irrational product structure of China's fastener industry, low grade, low added value, and difficult price increase. Coupled with the lack of demand in the international market, especially after China's fasteners suffered continuous anti-dumping sanctions, the export volume declined.

At present, there are tens of thousands of fastener companies in China, but only 60 of them have an annual output value of more than 100 million yuan. Compared with overseas companies, our strength is obviously weaker. With the EU, Mexico, the United States, Russia and other large-scale anti-dumping arbitration and investigation of China's fastener industry, China's fastener exports have been pushed to the cusp. “In February this year, Jiaxing, China’s largest fastener manufacturer, has seen its exports drop by nearly 50%. Many fastener companies are now looking to invest in the domestic market.”

Experts pointed out that hardware fastener companies talk about the most "transition" and "upgrade". However, under the premise of transformation and upgrading, the vast majority of China's fastener companies have to face such a situation: the rise in raw material prices, The appreciation of the renminbi and labor costs rose. The rise in raw material costs has caused companies to increase product prices, but the premise of product price increases is the increase in technology and brand strength. This is a continuous process. This is a bottleneck for small and medium-sized fastener companies. They need to survive hard.

According to reports, in the current sluggish fastener market, special industry fastener products have advantages, such as fasteners used in the aviation, military, railway and other industries, the specificity of these products determines their price. As a result, domestic fastener companies can focus on developing such markets. High-strength fasteners With the improvement of the industrialization level and technological progress of the country, the usage has gradually increased. The State Bureau of Machinery classified "common standard fasteners" as a restricted development product, and "high-strength special-shaped fasteners" as the current encouragement to develop products, precisely in order to promote the development of high-strength fasteners.

It can be seen that domestic fastener manufacturers must accelerate the pace of technological upgrading, and at the same time enhance the strength of fasteners in special industries in order to open up market areas and enhance their ability to respond to market risks.
